Military Member Ahmed Jamal Tawuz has been forcibly disappeared since 2015

The Syrian Network for Human Rights informed the Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances at the United Nations about the case of the military “Ahmed Jamal Tawuz,” who was a soldier conscripted with the Syrian regime forces prior to his arrest, and he is from Aleppo, born in 1993, who was arrested by affiliated members For the Syrian regime forces on Monday 25 May 2015, when he tried to defect from the ranks of the Syrian regime forces near Salah El-Din neighborhood in Aleppo city, and took him to an unknown destination, and since that date he has been forcibly disappeared, and his fate is still unknown for the Syrian Network for Human Rights and his family as well.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights also briefed the United Nations Special Rapporteur on torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment, the Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the context of combating terrorism, and the Special Rapporteur on the right of everyone to the enjoyment of the highest possible level of human rights Physical and mental health, in the “Ahmed” military case

The Syrian authorities deny their enforced disappearance of the soldier, Ahmed Jamal Tawuz, and the Syrian Network for Human Rights has not been able to know his fate so far, and his family has also been unable to do so, and they fear arrest and torture in the event of repeated questions about him, as happened with many similar cases.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights called on the United Nations Committee on Enforced Disappearances, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment, the Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism, and the Special Rapporteur on the right of every human being Enjoying the highest possible level of physical and mental health, I asked them to intervene with the Syrian authorities in order to urgently demand his release, the release of thousands of cases of enforced disappearance, and the need to know their fate

The Syrian government is not a party to the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance, but it is nonetheless a party to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the Arab Charter on Human Rights, both of which violate the provisions of enforced disappearance.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights also confirmed its fear of torture and possibly death as a result of torture against the forcibly disappeared since 2011, and the number of enforced disappearance is still rising.
