Statement to the public
We, as Sara’s organization in the Kobani canton in the Euphrates region in the north and east of Syria, condemned in a statement the killing and suicide of women, and we call on the responsible authorities and all women’s organizations aiming to support women to hold the perpetrators of these brutal crimes against women accountable and to protect women’s rights.
From the beginning of the Syrian crisis to this day, there has undoubtedly been a serious struggle for women’s rights to freedom and equality, but despite the struggle that was waged and as a result of the prevailing social mentality in society, women are married off when they are minors and physical, verbal and psychological violence is practiced against them under the name of customs and traditions and because of In these circumstances, women still face murder and suicide in most Syrian regions.
The 19-year-old girl, Ayat Al-Rifai, was beaten by her husband and his family, and she refused to divorce and return to her family due to their poor condition. her head to faint and die.
We see that the rate of murders committed against women has increased and that women are deprived of their natural rights. The reason for this is the prevailing mentality of men who deny the existence of women and demand the imposition of his authority over them to lose their identity and impose a masculine mentality.
In addition to this, underage girls who are forced to marry at an early age, which becomes a victim of the marriage of a minor, and Eida Al-Hamoudi Al-Saeedo, who is 18 years old from the city of Al-Hasakah, was a victim of brutal practices against women and arrogant marriage, and she was brutally assaulted and out of humanity.
Therefore, we must educate women, and we women all over the world must support each other not to kill women under any name. Women must not be killed and women must not be killed themselves as a result of circumstances they are going through, but they must struggle and resist to free themselves from slavery and an authoritarian mentality.
We also call on the responsible authorities and all organizations to hold accountable the perpetrators of crimes against women, especially the horrific crime committed against Ayat al-Rifai, and to protect women's rights.
