International Moon Day

International Moon Day

The importance of lunar day
The General Assembly proclaimed International Moon Day, an international day designated and observed by the United Nations on 20 July by its resolution 76/76 on “International Cooperation in the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space ❝”.
International Moon Day marks the anniversary of the first human landing on the moon as part of the Apollo 11 mission to the moon.
The celebrations will also display the achievements of all countries in the exploration of the moon and raise public awareness of the exploration and sustainable use of the moon.
Basic information
For thousands of years, human civilizations have pondered the sky and pondered the origin and mysteries of the moon. The ground observations made possible by the invention of the first telescopes opened a new chapter in our knowledge of our heavenly companion.
With the start of space activities, the moon became the final destination for countless missions, including manned flights that left human footprints elsewhere in the universe.
As lunar exploration efforts continue under ambitious plans, this global celebration will not only serve as a reminder of past success, but also serve as an annual testament to future endeavors.
