Psychological education sessions for children

Hala (11 years), a girl residing in Al-Wahla camps near Al-Dana, lived through displacement with her family coming from Maarat al-Numan, where they fled to escape death.
The girl lived a harsh experience two months ago, when she swallowed a "pin" and underwent surgery to remove it, and after that, she began to face a strange suit, as she always felt afraid when eating, and this affected her desire to go to school.
“I'm tired and sick and I want to die and I can't eat,” the child said, crying, and explaining that she had pain in her chest, head and ear.
Hala and her family visited several doctors, and no physiological problems were noticed, so she was referred to the psychosocial support team at Al-Dana Hospital.
Our team conducted an assessment of the child's feelings and thoughts, and identified the stimuli that contribute to the development of the condition. A plan was developed with the child and her family to help her get rid of the thoughts that bother her.
The psychological support team conducted psychological support sessions for Hala, to relieve feelings of fear and get rid of the feeling of fear and suffocation. Psychological education sessions were also provided for caregivers, working to understand the girl's feelings, and providing useful strategies to help caregivers help the girl child, including providing food through play.
The child and her caregivers were followed up in several sessions, and there was a noticeable improvement in her, and she returned to eating normally without feeling afraid, and sleeping well, and she returned to school and her usual activities without any fear.
