A Syrian woman victory in making her way to achieve livelihoods for herself and her children

Amer El-Sayed Ali - The New Arab. Syrian women suffered during the war years like all other groups of society. Because of the long years of war and the loss of many fathers, husbands, brothers and breadwinners, some of them were forced to engage in jobs that were the preserve of men to support their families. Doaa Muhammad, 25, is a partner in a mobile phone maintenance center called “Flor Tech” in the city of Idlib in northern Syria. She told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that she chose this profession for reasons, the first of which was that her phone screen had broken, and she did not want anyone to fix it because of privacy. I learned about a course in cellular phone maintenance that had been announced by the “Spark of Hope” center, so I registered its name and was accepted. She adds that most of those who work in this profession are men, which deprives many women of preserving their privacy, pointing out that the presence of a center run by women contributes to maintaining privacy and makes the process of communication between them easier and maintaining privacy guaranteed. She points out that the city of Idlib lacks maintenance centers run by women, which prompted her and her friends to move forward in this field. She points out that the center is witnessing a high turnout from women residing in the city, which is due to two reasons: the first is the trust in the center's four supervisors, and the second is the professionalism of those supervisors.
