There is no freedom for a people without guaranteeing the rights of all its citizens

Musawa Organization strongly condemns the successive attacks against women activists in the northwest of Syria, which were manifested in the prevention of some of their activities, the closure of some of the organizations’ offices, or the personal attack on some of them, which amounted to inciting religious authorities’ symbols to attack them from the pulpits of mosques, to give sacred legitimacy To prevent them from practicing their activities, and legitimize their harm.
It is not new for us to wage a brutal war against us, using many tools, to distort our struggle, our goals and our demands, and to convince people that the aim is to destabilize society, destroy the family, and evade any moral rules. Therefore, we must clarify our demands.
The rights of women that we demand are their rights to exercise their full citizenship in a pluralistic democratic state based on equal citizenship;
- Women’s rights to education, work and to contribute to the advancement of a country that has been exhausted by tyranny, armed conflict and terrorism in all its forms;
Their rights to make crucial decisions about their lives without coercion or threat.
These rights are guaranteed to women by all the laws and covenants in the world.
We must also clarify some points that are used to distort our struggles.
The freedom of women that we call for has nothing to do with their appearance or beliefs, but rather their right to education, work, and to play an active role in life, and to participate in building the future of future generations.
- We will never accept our betrayal by any party whatsoever, as everyone knows that we actively participated in the revolution of our people, and struggled against tyranny and paid high prices in terms of restrictions, arrests and displacement, and we are still working to help all Syrian women inside Syria, displaced women and refugees, and provide our services to them, and combat violence against them, and we seek to empower them to be active members in their societies.
- We stand against any global or regional power that used our country as a theater for proxy wars, governed by the hidden deals concluded between these powers.
We also stand firmly against the inability of the United Nations to end the armed conflict that destroyed our country, which is supposed to maintain peace and security in the world, while its decisions are subject to the interactions of the interests of the major powers in the Security Council.
A: Our organizations are not the only ones receiving aid from international organizations. This is our right and the duty of those organizations, although we are one of the most keen organizations to select the party that provides assistance to believe in the justice of the cause of our people and their right to live in the shadow of a free, democratic state that takes into account the rights of all its citizens.
The use of religions as a tool to suppress freedom and truth and legitimize violence against women is no longer feasible, especially for the younger generations, who have come to realize that any divine law or human charters must be based on truth, goodness and justice.
We expect those who opposed the authority of tyranny, demanded freedom and justice, and stood with the revolution of our people, to stand with any just demand that preserves the rights of men, women and children.
We will remain loyal to our struggles in order for our people to achieve their right to achieve the slogan of their revolution in freedom, justice and dignity for every citizen. We will not be deterred by repeated attacks aimed at stopping our path. The future is ours as long as we believe in truth, goodness and justice for all human beings.
