Verify-Sy platform won the "International Truth 9" award for its investigation titled "An investigation that reveals the involvement of (Sham Wings) in the migrant crisis from Damascus to Belarus" in the most influential investigation category, after winning first place.
The competition won by the investigation is organized annually by the International Fact-Finding Network (IFCN) on the sidelines of its annual conference, which is currently taking place in the Norwegian capital, Oslo, with the participation of about 500 people from around the world.
The competition focused on the report that left the most impact in the department in which it was discussed. Verify-Sy participated in the competition with a report it published in November of last year 2021, which revealed the involvement of Cham Wings Airlines in the migrant crisis from Damascus to Belarus.
The investigation was chosen from among more than 150 investigations in the category of the most influential, submitted by several platforms and institutions specialized in verifying news and misinformation from several countries around the world, in addition to other investigations in two categories, namely "the most creative form" and "the most creative cooperation".
The report talked about the role of the Cham Wings company in transporting Syrians through direct flights from Damascus to Minsk through airline offices that have been working in coordination with the company listed on the US sanctions list since December 2016, because of “providing financial, technological and service support to the Syrian regime government and airlines Syrian Arab Air.
