Malnutrition is one of the most serious diseases affecting children

Malnutrition is a serious and common disease that affects children. SAMS, through its facilities in northwestern Syria, provides services to malnourished children in health centers and hospitals that support it.
Koren Health Center is one of those centers that provides services to children, and provides periodic follow-up to them.
The child Muhammad (13 months), from the village of Korin, was severely malnourished, with moderate severity, and was followed up in the center.
Ms. Fatima, Muhammad’s mother, says: “From birth, I could not breastfeed him naturally after many repeated attempts. When we visited the pediatrician at the center, he told us that there was a congenital fissure in the roof of the throat that prevents the child from breastfeeding. The alternative was canned milk in the market, and his condition worsened in the sixth month of the month. The age, where he became in poor condition with severe weakness in the body, was followed up for 7 months in the center and is in good health now.”
Khaled Rashwani, a pediatrician at the center, says: “We conduct a survey of all children attending the clinic to detect cases of malnutrition. The child Muhammad visits us since birth because of the cleft of the palate and the inability to breastfeed because of it. In the sixth month, he was diagnosed with malnutrition and follow-up was carried out periodically. With the provision of vitamins, nutritional supplements, advice and recommendations for parents.
