Ta Marbouta conducts a dialogue session on media disinformation and its effects

Ta Marbouta - Raqqa
Yesterday, Tuesday, the Taa Marbouta Foundation conducted a dialogue session in its office in Raqqa under the title "Media Disinformation in the Region and Its Impact on Society and How to Confront it".
A wide range of male and female intellectuals, writers, media figures, female activists, civil society activists and personalities from the Autonomous Administration participated in the session.
The dialogue revolved around the methods of media disinformation and its devastating effects on society, and the axes of the session discussed ways to curb this media phenomenon that exploits the emotions and fears of the people and sows discord among the components of society, as misleading and false news has become very popular in society and spread rapidly due to the development of social media. The interlocutors said that this danger must be confronted because it is causing great harm to the local community.
The interlocutors suggested that a platform be formed to verify the news before publishing it, and demanded the abolition of the pages that publish malicious news, or news that incites the spirit of hatred among the people, and suggested exposing it and refuting the false news that it broadcasts.
At the end of the session, the attendees agreed on several constructive outcomes and proposals, the most important of which were:
1- The necessity of establishing a technical institute for media in the region, so that journalists who are familiar with journalistic work can graduate from it, and they respect the truth and the honor of the word.
2- Protecting the journalist and granting him immunity.
3- The necessity of eradicating media illiteracy and educating the community in the field of media. 4- The necessity of establishing a media union for the sons of Raqqa.
5- Demanding legal measures to confront and hold the fake pages accountable.
6- Establishing a platform to verify news and its credibility. 7- Spreading awareness in the community through awareness sessions. 8- The need for coordination between intellectuals and media professionals in Raqqa.
This session is part of the campaign launched by the Taa Marbouta Foundation in cooperation with other media platforms to combat misinformation and false news in society in the north and east.
