Flower house in Afrin

Flower house in Afrin

"In my house in Afrin, I have planted more than 100 types of flowers. My balcony here is small, but I try to grow as many plants as possible to replace the ones I lost."
Aitan Musa, in her sixties, says while watering her flowers, "I cannot live in a house without vegetables. I have a strong connection with plants as all the residents of Afrin."
After the Turkish invasion of the area in 2018, Aytan and her family were displaced from Afrin to Qamishli, to live in a rented house after losing her home and garden.
Aitan looks away, "Every day I sit here among these flowers, and I think back to my house and bemoan what I've lost.
