International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

For more than 34 years, the world has been celebrating the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. In order to achieve the goal of establishing an international community free of drug use, the United Nations General Assembly decided by resolution 42/112 of December 7, 1987 to designate June 26 of every year as the International Day for Drug Control, and this date was chosen to commemorate the dismantling of the opium trade in my city Humen Town and Guangdong before the First Opium War in China.
This global celebration, which is supported every year by individuals, communities and various organizations around the world, aims to raise awareness of the main problem posed by drugs in society, and to raise awareness and warn of the physical, psychological and mental dangers of drug users.
Among the objectives of the celebration of the World Anti-Drug Day is to shed light on the need to continue efforts to seek a complete end to drug use, and to encourage the responsible and concerned authorities, whether governments or citizens, to double their tasks and roles in order to eradicate drug trade.
The United Nations calls on countries to celebrate this day, by holding various activities and events with the aim of raising awareness of the harms of drugs and their negative effects, and conducting programs, seminars and awareness campaigns to publicize the dangers and effects of drug abuse, in addition to publishing promotional advertisements in various media, channels and social media platforms, as well as from Through the paper posters, which show how to combat the phenomenon of drug abuse, and give advice and instructions that urge addicts to recover, through the response of the majority of the world’s countries to the establishment of the activities of the World Anti-Drug Day, with the participation of citizens in the celebrations that receive great acceptance and interest from all levels, which Realizes the extent of the danger of drugs and their devastating effects on various economic and health fields and the future of future generations.
The slogan of the World Anti-Drug Day is a slogan launched by the United Nations with the aim of raising awareness of drugs, and the slogan changes from year to year, but its content remains and continues, and this year's slogan came: "Share the facts about drugs... Save lives." The theme of the year affirms that efforts to combat drugs must not depend only on awareness, but statistics that show the scale of the disaster that drug abuse and trafficking have reached globally must be presented, as this day is a day for exchanging research results, evidence-based data and solutions, to continue Benefit from the spirit of shared solidarity.
