Awareness activity about the harms of smoking and its effects on health

Female midwifery students at SAMS Medical Technical Institute organized an awareness activity on the occasion of the “World No Tobacco Day for 2022” yesterday, within the “Kifteen” camp in the northern countryside of Idlib.
The activity introduced the women within the camp to the harms of smoking and its effects on health, the extent of its danger to pregnant women and its negative impact on the mother and fetus.
Miss Khadija Al Qatash, a midwifery trainer at the institute, says: "The activity aims to reduce the spread of smoking among women, especially with the noticeable increase in the number of women smoking."
Midwifery student Shorouq Abdel-Khaleq, who participated in the activity, says about the reason for her participation: "Through the activity, I try to introduce pregnant women to the harms of smoking and its effects on the health of the mother and fetus, and the possibility of reducing it to avoid health problems for children in the future."
Mrs. Doaa, a displaced person in the area, attended the activity, explaining: “Through the activity and the information I obtained about the harms of smoking and its negative effects on the fetus, I decided to protect my child from this deadly poison and stay away from smokers.”
