Opening of the first exhibition of the Ayadee Mossrah Center in Idlib
The first exhibition of the "Visible Hands" center sees the light in Idlib.
Under the auspices of the Syrian Expatriates Medical Association "Sima", the "Sighting Hands" center launched its first exhibition with the production of 200 unique pieces of handicrafts made by the hands of blind people with hearts and sighted hands, amid a demand from the local community and humanitarian activists to visit the exhibition and discover its distinctive products.
Ammar Al-Amir, director of the center, said: "Ayyad Mosbra Center takes care of a neglected and marginalized segment of society. They are the blind, who often suffer from the isolation that society pushes them to when it orders them to sit only in their homes." And they return at the end of the official working hours to their homes carrying bags that make their families happy just like any other human being.
The center employs 6 employees from the blind segment, and this modest number can train a large segment of blind men and women who wish to join the center.
Ammar Al-Amir, director of the center, explains, "The idea is to teach the blind to make handicraft products from which they can live. It is a unique center in the region that teaches the blind to produce. We wanted to teach him to fish instead of offering fish!"
The first exhibition includes 200 unique pieces of art, about a year after the center was established in the seventh month of 2021, and its organizers are seeking to expand it by announcing more courses for the blind and visually impaired, with the aim of reaching them and turning them into producers.
The exhibition organizers invite its visitors to acquire these products and encourage others to do so by requesting a recommendation for a product to be produced by the center within a week. The project organizers also intend to open another exhibition in Turkey in the next stage.
