Dialogue session on drug abuse in local communities

Within the Our Security Project, monastery for development held on 5/17/2022 a dialogue session entitled drug abuse in local communities and control of the border crossing on the banks of the Euphrates River.
The session was attended by representatives of the local community, including health representatives. The session discussed the problem of drug spread in the region, its effects on society, the reasons for its spread among members of society, how this phenomenon can be treated, and the role of the local community and internal security forces in combating it and limiting its spread.
The session also discussed the issue of river crossings, what most of the materials are smuggled through, and the reason that prompted smugglers to use the crossings to smuggle basic materials, goods, drugs and human trafficking, and is smuggling considered an organized crime or not, and the effects of the crossings' presence on the local community
They also discussed the steps that the local community and the internal security forces can take to mitigate and limit this phenomenon.
The session resulted in many important recommendations and suggestions to limit the spread of drugs and control river crossings.
