Defamation and abuse of divorced Syrian refugee women in Germany

Elham Talbi - The Independent Arabic. Social media has turned into a space for defamation and abuse of divorced Arab refugee women in Germany, pages on “Tik Tok” specialize in publishing stories of Arab refugees who consider themselves victims, because their wives abandoned them in Germany, and videos that mock and abuse divorced women in Germany.
But why do some Arab refugees refuse to accept divorce, and how did social media become a means of revenge against divorced women? Why is the divorced Arab refugee seen with contempt?
“Arab Women Exploit German Law”
How did the Syrian woman take advantage of German law against her husband? This is how Fadi, a young Syrian man, titles a video on his channel in “Tik Tok,” which includes a large number of videos criticizing Arab divorced women. Their husbands abuse them and their children, or rape their children, and that they have no modesty or religious deterrence, and their goal is to take revenge on their husbands.”
"Victims of Divorced"
His videos are watched and supported by a large number of refugees, who consider him a defender of men’s rights, “victims of divorced women,” as they put it.
Some Arab youth publish on their Tik Tok pages videos of German cities, which they called the capitals of divorced Arab women.
In contrast to the campaign of abuse of divorced Arab women, Samar, a Palestinian, criticizes these videos, considering that the talk of some Arabs about the honor of their ex-wives on social media pages is unacceptable, adding, "Let's suppose that the woman was wrong, she should not be offended."
