SAMS concluded today its local medical mission to follow up patients with retinopathy, which started last week and lasted for 6 days in cooperation with the Middle East Eye Hospital, during which examinations were conducted for 70 patients, of whom 62 were given Avastin injections and 9 laser procedures
For 4 years now, SAMS has been following up every three months with patients suffering from diabetic retinopathy, including 21 patients from Zaatari camp for Syrian refugees and a patient from Azraq camp, where coordination is coordinated with the UNHCR to secure transportation for them to and from the camp. Diabetic retinopathy is one of the Complications of diabetes that affect the eye, and if the patient is not followed up by the specialist (taking tests and giving the necessary treatment), vision loss
