The White Hands Association in northern Syria has completed the construction of the second batch of apartments, in the village of Basma, in the vicinity of the village of Shih al-Dair in the Jindires area, which is 25 km from Afrin, to receive displaced families in Idlib camps and Aleppo countryside to alleviate their suffering, after several months of sheltering 500 people are within the first phase of housing and infrastructure construction.
According to our correspondent, next Tuesday, March 29th, it is scheduled to receive more than 600 people in 8 housing blocks distributed among 125 apartments to accommodate them, several months after its opening last October, and a year and a half after the end of 2020 was laid. The basis for construction work scheduled in three phases to build 22 blocks, on an area of ​​more than 10,000 square meters, with Kuwaiti support from the Development Association
The wife of Mustafa Sh, displaced from the western countryside of Hama, recounts her suffering from being displaced from their home at the end of 2019 in Afrin, and the cost of living they incur to secure the most basic necessities of life at a minimum, in the hope of obtaining an apartment in the residential village.
She continues, saying, “My husband works day and night in the cattle trade to secure our expenses, and we are a family of 12 people, 7 girls and 3 boys, and my husband and I live in a semi-remote area from housing in Jindires.”
Establishing service facilities, including a kindergarten
According to the director of the organization’s office inside Syria, Sami Al-Jarm, those in charge of the project’s work give priority to sheltering orphaned families who lost their breadwinners due to the war, in addition to the displaced families in tents suffering from difficult living conditions.
In addition to housing, Basma Village provides a health center, a mosque, a kindergarten, as well as a center for memorizing the Qur’an and a group of gardens, in addition to a school to receive children on an area of ​​2500 square meters distributed over 24 classrooms, 4 administrative rooms and 16 bathrooms on two floors, the area of ​​each floor is 700 square meters to be able to To accommodate the students of the assembly and the rest of the children from the nearby camps in its vicinity, which amount to 1,800 students.
