Mission/Objectives:
Weqaya Association aims to support and empower women in a cohesive society, provide all requirements, spread a culture of awareness, and preserve public facilities that it believes are the property of all, and seek to deliver humanitarian aid to those in need,
It stems from all this from sincerity, dedication to work, diversity and partnership, and its ultimate goal is the human being and society.

1- A voluntary initiative to spray insecticides to public parks in the city to prevent the spread of harmful insect diseases.

 On August 19, 2018, in agreement with the People’s Municipality in Raqqa, then spraying pesticides approved by the Health Committee of the Civil Council of Raqqa and the People’s Municipality in Raqqa in a full voluntary manner by the members of the association. The spraying campaign continued for 4 hours a day for a week.

 2- A voluntary initiative to spray insecticides to the Tel Al Baya area (refugee tents area near the municipality’s landfills on 9/18/2018 after completing the pesticide campaign in the city’s parks).  For the municipality and the ruins of the city that were relocated to that area and due to the spread of diseases and insect infestations, the Weqaya Association carried out a completely voluntary campaign to spray insecticides after the approval of the municipality for the dumps and the outskirts of the nearby neighborhood.

 3- A voluntary initiative, the Weqaya Association conducted awareness campaigns for farmers to combat the cotton worm, which has spread very widely in the fields, and campaigns to rationalize the use of pesticides and preserve the environment through the use of safe pesticides on bees and humans, and distributed brochures to farmers including how to combat wild eggplant.

 4- A voluntary initiative (My Country is Clean) A personal hygiene awareness campaign about diseases that spread insects within the eastern neighborhoods of the entire city from 15-8-2018 for a period of 20 days, through awareness sessions in the neighborhoods, distributing flyers for the association and conducting awareness sessions for personal hygiene and common diseases  Cross insects in the eastern neighborhoods of the city.

 5- A voluntary initiative (My School is My Paradise) A cleaning campaign for Al-Zahraa School and its preparation to receive students at the beginning of the school year on 9/19/2018 and for a period of 4 days (At the beginning of the new school year, the Prevention Association and with the approval of the Education Committee of the Raqqa Civil Council removed the rubble collected in the school  And a complete washing process for walls, ceilings and floors).

 6_ Carrying out continuous training courses, always by local and international trainers, courses to prepare human cadres in the Prevention Association who are able to meet the needs of work and keep abreast of the rapid developments and changes that occur in the fields of work, and to provide the trained employee with the necessary information and skills, in order to be able to perform specific tasks better  positive development in its performance and prepare it to adapt to change in the future.

 7- A voluntary initiative (My School Bag) distributing school bags and supplies for students at Al-Zahraa School, on 10/1/2018 to encourage students always (a week after the end of the cleaning campaign in the school and in cooperation with the Education Committee of the Raqqa Civil Council) the self-financed Weqaya Association  , Distributing educational supplies to new students to motivate them to continue working.

 8- Weqaya Association, in cooperation with Bain Al-Nahrain Organization, after obtaining the required grant, established a psychological support center for children between (10-12) years in Al-Diriyah neighborhood in Al-Raqqa city, on October 29, 2018. This project worked on treating  The effects of the war on children, and providing psychological support to those aged (10-12), for the displaced and residing in the city of Raqqa - Al-Diriyah neighborhood, who were prevented by the war conditions during the rapid changes in the region and the frequent displacement and instability from obtaining the minimum requirements of social life, and the duration of the period was  The project is 3 months, a session every one day a week, and the number of beneficiaries is 50 children living in Al-Diriyah neighborhood, in order to integrate children into society, through

 Rehabilitate them intellectually and psychologically.

 9- Weqaya Association, in cooperation with the Civil Society Support Center in Raqqa, under the Father Paolo 3 grant, then attended courses to raise the level and capabilities of members of the association in the following sections (strategic planning - project management - financial management - follow-up and evaluation - human resources - operational planning  - Mobilization and advocacy - writing project proposals), and after the completion of the courses, the required grant was obtained, on 23/11/2019, to start implementing the project and targeting mothers in Al-Andalus neighborhood in Raqqa city, and to increase health awareness for mothers by providing health awareness courses to treat  Children, (first aid courses), the duration of the project was 45 days, five days each week, and first aid kits were provided to each trainee. The aim of the project was to train mothers on how to deal with emergency cases.

 10 - On June 30, 2020, the engineering team of the Prevention Society attended successive and phased training courses, through the application of global communication (zoom) with the Aso Organization for Consultations and Strategic Studies in Raqqa.

 With the support of the Alsp program for a group of local organizations in Raqqa Governorate.  The training materials included the following.

 1_ The science of management.

 2_ Strategic planning.

 3_ fundraising mechanism.

 4_ Workshops and exchange of experiences.

 11_ On 8/16/2020, the Prevention Association launched a voluntary initiative in the city of Raqqa (a campaign to distribute awareness brochures about the Corona covid 19 pandemic and how to prevent it).

 12_ On 8/27/2020, the Prevention Society launched a voluntary campaign (Your awareness is a trust) in Raqqa.

 Distributing protective masks and gloves to a gathering of women in front of one of the gathering centers in Raqqa.  This is to help reduce the spread of the Corona virus (Covid 19).

 13- The Prevention Association, in partnership with the Hope Makers Organization and the Jasmine Association, and with funding from the Aso Center, implemented the (Visitors of the Home and the Neighbor) project in the Sariko neighborhood in Al-Raqqa, and the project aims to provide awareness sessions for 100 families, while providing preventive health series  The goal is to educate people about the dangers of the Corona virus / Covid 19, and to limit its spread, while taking care of spatial distancing.

 

 2_ On 8/27/2020, the Prevention Association launched a voluntary and preventive campaign in Raqqa.

 

 Distribution of masks and protective gloves, for a gathering of women in front of one of the gathering centers in Raqqa.  This is to help reduce the spread of the Corona virus (Covid 19).

 

 13- Weqaya Association implemented the (Visitors of the Home and the Neighbor) initiative on 10/1/2020 in (Masaken Sariko area) Raqqa city, in partnership with the Jasmine Association and the Hope Makers Organization, and with funding from the Aso Center in northeastern Syria. The initiative aims to:  Raising preventive health awareness about the Corona epidemic, for displaced families residing in Sariko dwellings in Raqqa, distributing health safety brochures and distributing preventive health and hygiene baskets for families residing in Sariko dwellings.

 

 14- Weqaya Association carried out a project (My Mother is a Paramedic) and in cooperation with a support center in the city of Raqqa on 11/1/2020, within the Father Paolo 4 grant, funded by IMPACT, after the association’s team participated in capacity-raising exercises in (strategic planning - financial management -  Human Resources Department - Follow-up and Evaluation Department - Projects Department), Weqaya Association implemented the (My Mother is a Paramedic) project, which targets mothers in the Sahel al-Banat area in Raqqa, and to increase health awareness for mothers by providing health awareness training to treat children (first aid training) 60 were targeted  A woman. The duration of the project is two months, five days each week, and emergency kits are provided to each trainee. The aim of the project was to train mothers on how to deal with emergency emergency cases.

 

 15- Participation in several meetings with the European Union Office, the last of which was dated via Zoom through the platform of civil society organizations in northeastern Syria. The meeting focused on:

 

 The challenges facing civil society organizations in northern and eastern Syria

 

 The challenges facing humanitarian work in northern and eastern Syria

 

 Suggestions and recommendations from member organizations of the platform.

 

 16- Participation of Weqaya Association: In the framework of the activities and events of the project to strengthen the participatory democracy approach in North and East Syria supported by the Norwegian People’s Aid Organization NPA and the Swedish Development Cooperation Agency SIDA, and at the invitation of the Aso Center for Consultation and Strategic Studies to attend a meeting with the European Union Office, with members of the platform  Civil society institutions in northern and eastern Syria, to get acquainted with the work and activities of the platform and its members and to discuss the challenges facing civil society organizations on the one hand and humanitarian work on the other hand;  Noting that the project sponsors (Norwegian People's Aid NPA and SIDA), as well as other guests from government representatives and international donors, were also invited.

 

 17- Weqaya Society’s participation in the regional consultations of the Civil Society Support Chamber of the Office of the Special Envoy for Syria, which took place from June 21 to 29, 2021. Mr. Hussam Al-Hussein, Executive Director, a representative of Weqaya Society, participated in the regional consultations, with a briefing from the Deputy  The Special Envoy, Ms. Khawla Matar, via a webinar organized with all registered participants.  The Civil Society Support Room Team of the Office of the Special Envoy for Syria also provided a summary of the current state of the Civil Society Support Room process and the new tools and processes recently launched.

 

 The participants expressed their opinion on the four specialized topics:

 

 1- The constitutional process and the political process in its broadest form

 

 2- Inclusion of civil society and women in the political process, participation and engagement

 

 3- Humanitarian and protection issues

 

 4- Social and economic issues

 

 18 - Weqaya Association accepted the invitation to attend a “meeting with the DSP platform and the Danish Refugee Council DRC

 

 The meeting was held via the Zoom platform on Monday, June 28, 2021 at 11 am, Syrian time, under the management of the Aso Center for Consultations and Strategic Studies.

 

 Within the framework of the activities and events of the Project to Strengthen the Participatory Democracy Approach in North and East Syria, supported by the Norwegian People’s Aid Organization (NPA) and the Swedish Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), the Aso Center for Consultation and Strategic Studies invited a group of international organizations working in northern and eastern Syria supporting and concerned with issues of displacement and refugees, to get acquainted with  On the work and activities of the platform of civil society organizations and its members on the one hand, and discuss the challenges facing the displaced inside Syria;  Project sponsors (Norwegian People's Aid NPA and SIDA), representatives of the International Coordination Body (NES FORUM), and other guests were also invited.

 

 19- The participation of the representative of the Prevention Society, Mr. Hussam Al-Hussein, in the regional consultations of the Civil Society Support Chamber of the Office of the Special Envoy to Syria, Mr. Geir Pedersen.

 

 The meeting started at 11 am on Tuesday 29/6/2021 (Syrian time), presented by the Special Envoy, Mr. Geir Pedersen.

 

 He began by thanking everyone who attended the meetings of the regional groups of the Civil Society Support Chamber during the previous days, and the discussion took place in the different groups' briefings that took place during the past days.

 

 Then go to the rapporteurs of the different groups to present the most prominent discussions that took place and ask some questions, and then receive the responses of the Special Envoy on what was presented.  The meeting lasted in total until 1:00 pm, Syrian time.

 

 20- Weqaya Association carried out on 7-14-2021 a project (living together to survive in the city of Raqqa) in partnership with the Basic Services Program and with funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). 60 community leaders and pioneers in the city of Raqqa were targeted.  And stakeholders in the local authority, sheikhs and dignitaries of clans, writers and intellectuals (women + men), the goal of the project: is to enhance the resilience of society to withstand, five dialogue sessions (recommendations) were held to discuss women’s problems and challenges in Raqqa, and how to always find solutions to problems  Women and girls in Raqqa, in order to submit recommendations to the funding body for the implementation of projects, programs and activities aimed at contributing to supporting and empowering women.

 

 21- The attendance of a representative of the Prevention Society in the conference announcing the establishment of the Alliance of Civil Society Organizations in North and East Syria, which was held in the city of Qamishli on the seventeenth and eighteenth of October 2021.
