Who are we

We are a group of Syrian women who believe in the power of thought and dialogue to change reality. We look forward to Syria’s transition from dictatorship and the values ​​of tyranny to the values ​​of freedom, justice, the rule of law, and a commitment to achieving equality and solidarity between us because we believe that education, peacebuilding, and empowering women to fortify our societies and put them on the path to recovery and prosperity. We also believe that pluralism and differences, if we can harness them in their proper context, become a source of strength for us. We are convinced that Syrians have the resources and capabilities that qualify us to head to a new horizon to build a homeland for all its male and female citizens to live in dignity and security, and with equal opportunities to achieve a different future.

 

Establishment

We established an organization that is independent in 2014 (which is an acronym for “Syrian Women’s Gathering of Word and Lean”) as a non-profit organization that seeks to be part of the change process that Syrians came out for in 2011.

. The organization has many activities and training through its centers in Turkey, the Syrian interior, and all the places where there are Syrians (in Europe, Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, and the Syrian interior, east, west, north, and south).

. The organization works to empower women (and youth) politically, socially, culturally, and economically.

. The organization strives to empower women (and youth) to be peacemakers (and peacemakers) and to make a positive impact wherever they are.

. The organization is interested in promoting a culture of nonviolence and empowering each other to resolve and mitigate conflicts at the family, community, and political levels.

. The organization emphasizes civic participation, coordinating efforts, and exchanging expertise, knowledge, and experiences.

. The organization is committed to non-discrimination between nationalities, religions, and sects and to creating a safe and mutually supportive family atmosphere to provide conditions for reflection and development.

 

Value

The number of beneficiaries has now reached about 600 women, some of whom were able to hold political and community positions or obtain jobs in different sectors, including civil society organizations. In addition to increasing their abilities to deal positively with parents and the neighborhood, and to play an active role in work contexts and social and political activity.
