Our Mission

Maram Foundation works to provide assistance to the lives of people affected by armed conflict and other situations of violence. We aim to provide cross-sectoral collaborative and sustainable initiatives that bridge humanitarian assistance and development according to the needs of communities living inside and outside Syria. We are dedicated not only to the alleviation of human suffering but to a broader movement which advocates for equal rights and opportunities for all people.

Our Vision

We seek a world of social justice, one in which tolerance is enhanced by acceptance, where every individual can live in dignity and security. A society that enables and encourages all people to participate as equals and realize their full potentials.

Maram Foundation for Relief and Development is a non-profit organization registered in Texas USA, with offices in Turkey and Jordan. Maram has been dedicated to providing assistance to refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) since the beginning of the Syrian Crisis in 2011. At present, a highly skilled, committed team of more than 250 people shape the organization’s structure; overseeing the provision of relief and sustainable development.

Maram’s first initiative was the establishment of the first and – with a population of more than 28,000 – the largest IDP Camp in Northern Syria in 2012.

It was in the ‘Olive Tree Camps’ better known as the ‘Atmeh Camps’, that the Maram team first came across a brave, young Syrian girl with a harrowing story and a heart of gold. The young girl lost her father, following mass shelling in a small village in Idlib, the same shelling that left her paralyzed after sustaining an injury.

Her story, her bravery, and her kindness moved us to name the Organisation after her. Maram continues to be an inspiration for our organization, informing the work we do.
