CARE International in Turkey (CARE), together with its partners, is providing humanitarian assistance to people affected by the Syrian crisis, both in Syria and Turkey.

I - Position Summary

The position will be based in Adana and Managed by the Protection Outreach Coordinator, and working in collaboration with other members of the technical and outreach staff. The Office Worker will be responsible for the maintenance and order of Information and Protection Space (IPS) as per the IPS Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). The office worker will also be responsible for supporting the Protection Outreach team in implementing community activities as per the Protection Outreach (PO) Guideline. The Protection Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for line management of Office Worker.

II - General Functions

The office worker supports to manage the daily activities within an IPS. This includes welcoming and managing requests in the reception area, creating a schedule for use of rooms in the IPS and helping individual clients to orient themselves for information or case management when people walk in.

III - Responsibilities

1- Maintenance and Order of the IPS (20%)

Opening the IPS from 9:00 to 17:30 to community members in the area. The IPS can be opened during weekends and in the evening for specific activities after approval from Protection outreach coordinator (POC).
Coordinating with the POC to ensure that the IPS:
-has all equipment and office supplies neat and ready to use.
-has water, tea and coffee available at all times enough for the expected amount of people that may visit.
-is kept cleaned.
-brochure stand is kept full of updated information Education Communication (IEC) materials pertaining to refugees and asylum seekers in Turkey.
2-Supporting CARE’s teams in the IPS (40%)

Welcoming visitors, responding to the initial questions and providing further information/service.
Conducting identification and registration as per the need and doing necessary referrals.
Keeping the availability schedule of the rooms for the Protection Outreach activities as well as other activities when needed. Ensuring the rooms are arranged and resources are provided for activities in the IPS.
Providing regular communication for the activities on daily basis to the POC.
Supporting the PO Team in communication with the refugee, host community and other stakeholders.
3- Data Entry (20%)

Supporting the PO team with adequate and accurate records of information by undertaking regular data entry work as required.
Ensuring that all information that is collected, processed and analysed within CARE IPS’s are subject to the Law on the Protection of Personal Data and CARE policies on information and data protection, under the supervision of the POC.
4- Contribute to high quality implementation of CARE’s refugee response (10%)

Encouraging and supporting the beneficiaries to give feedback for CARE’s programs.
Ensuring that the complaints are received by CARE properly and reporting on this to POC.
Ensuring that all program activities are implemented in accordance with agreed standard operating procedures and using agreed tools.
5-Supporting IPS Safety and Security (10%)

Ensuring that the safety and security measures, procedures and recommendations are implemented.
Familiarizing with the neighborhood, particularly with the nearest locations of the health facility, hospital and police station as well as government buildings.
Ensuring that the entrance area is well lit.
Ensuring that the emergency numbers are visibly placed on appropriate locations (e.g. next to the phone).
Ensuring that none, except law enforcement personnel on duty, is to carry or possess weapons of any type in IPS facilities.
IV - Qualification and skills

Essential

Fluent spoken and written Arabic
Fluent spoken Turkish
Good computer skills, especially in MS Word and MS Excel
Good documentation skills (Arabic)
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Experience in dealing with people from different backgrounds
Ability to work well within a team
Able to demonstrate initiative and solve problems
Resourceful person with positive attitude
Experience motivating people to participate in events/activities
Eager to learn new skills
Desired

Spoken English
Written Turkish
Prior experience of working in a non-governmental organization (NGO)
Experience working in a community-based role
Prior experience of protection activities or social work and community-based programming
V – Work conditions

Duty station: Based in (Adana –Seyhan IPS) office.

Office work: (5 days/week)
