Job Description
Data Architect is a practitioner of data architecture, an information technology discipline concerned with designing, creating, deploying and managing an organization’s data architecture. Data Architects define how the data will be stored, consumed, integrated and managed by different data entities and IT systems, as well as any applications using or processing that data in some way. Typical Tasks: Create, maintain and govern data architecture, data model, quality application data models, data dictionary/metadata catalog, data sourcing and staging strategy. Oversees the data scope horizontally, understands data overlaps and how multiple data used together can create more value. Defines requirements / roadmap for data standards and data capture leaders. Create & maintain data models in data modeling tools.
What is ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) Data & Systems
ESG Data & Systems team focuses on identifying needed data, systems, processes, and workflows required to enable the Company’s ESG reporting requirements and strategies. Scope of work starts from upstream processes like information from where our suppliers take substances to produce materials and end at where consumer is disposing our final products. Transforming data quality will be a key requirement for accurate external reporting and will include definition of data elements, data standards, data quality framework, BU data ownership model and technical architecture. Long term the team will establish a scaled service that will provide ongoing governance for BUs, project management for required further transformations, operations for maintaining ongoing solutions, application and infosec management for the quality developments, safe operations, reporting and analytics to enable the company to not only share right, but also auditable and traceable data externally.
Responsibilities
Work with the business and teams to collect and translate information requirements into data to develop data-centric solutions
Design and implement effective data models to store and retrieve data for numerous ESG use cases
Create and validate Logical Data Model meets business requirements and create a Physical Data Model from the Logical Data Model.
Align Data Model naming conventions with Information Architecture Framework (IAF) and oversee that metadata is captured in Data Catalog, MEGA and other documentation standards.
Establish and own ESG service overall harmonized data model as well design individual solutions models
Establish metadata framework allowing metadata-driven, market-configurable control of e2e data processing, including proactive monitoring of quality of data flows and of operations
Job Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE RECOMMENDATION
IT academic training or experience with data modeling
IT Foundational Skills such as Project Management and Stewardship
Experience developing data warehouse/data mart for use/consumption across various user segments.
Previous experience enriching transactional data with meta data (i.e. hierarchy, etc.) would be a plus
Experience with ETL (Extract-Transform-Load)tools (e.g., Informatica, Google DataFlow, Azure Data Factory, Talend, etc.)
2+ experience in cloud computing (Microsoft Azure) with a focus on data platforms
Experience in Data Quality, Data Profiling, Data Governance, Data Security, Metadata Management, MDM, Data Archival and Data Migration strategies using appropriate tools.
BEHAVIORAL SKILLS
Ability to elicit, understand and analyze requirements to go from business concepts into an actual data model
Ability to perform data profiling to understand and analyze actual data sources to validate patterns, expected values, sparsity, estimate data volumes and other data profiling concepts
Communication up and down the organization and ability to translate detailed data concepts into business relevant terminology
Must be able to work independently and have skills in planning, strategy, estimation, scheduling and project management
Highly motivated, self-starter
