KAYANY has partnered with the American University of Beirut’s (AUB) Center for Civic Engagement and Community Service (CCECS) and the Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) in constructing our school campuses.
We use a portable unit model that is easily assembled and disassembled, endures severe weather conditions, and is built by refugees from low-cost locally found material.
This “GHATA” unit design has proven highly efficient for direct intervention in the Informal Tented Settlements and has allowed us to build within or alongside their camps.
It is the only model approved by the Ministry of Social Affairs in Lebanon.
Our projects are initiated in response to the needs of the communities we work with, delivering aid with an inclusive approach in some of the most impoverished areas in the Bekaa.
We have 5 primary schools in the Bekaa governorate where we provide free and secular accredited primary education, in addition to 4 secondary schools including 2 all-girls schools that deliver accredited secondary education and skills training courses.
