The Syrian Organization for Persons with Disabilities - Amal
It is a non-governmental, non-profit organization that seeks to provide rehabilitation services and provide a supportive environment for persons with disabilities to enable their effective and independent participation in all aspects of life, according to international standards, and under the supervision of international experts.
Amal provides practical training programs for workers in the field of disabilities of all kinds, especially hearing impairment, speech and language disorders, and autism. In parallel with these programs, the organization focuses on strengthening and expanding academic programs in Syrian universities in the field of special education, allied health sciences, and rehabilitation in cooperation with international academic institutions.
It is also actively working with the relevant partners to develop the legislative and administrative work system to facilitate the integration of persons with disabilities in a country that secures the energy of its children.
The Syrian Organization for Persons with Disabilities - Amal was established in 2002 under Resolution No. /1505/ issued by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor.
Hearing loss early detection program

Training of entities working in the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities
We trained:
28 disabled trainees on “Psychokinetic Techniques” to treat children with cerebral palsy symptoms
25 trainees in the field of disability on the "Portage Early Intervention Program" within the framework of cooperation with the Central Council for Persons with Disabilities.

Home Rehabilitation Program for Children with Intellectual Disabilities and/or Autism with UNHCR
This program is implemented in cooperation with the UNHCR, as it targeted 1571 children suffering from intellectual disability or autism in 11 governorates during 2019 (Damascus - Rural Damascus - Lattakia - Tartous - Homs - Aleppo - Hama - Sweida - Quneitra - Daraa - Hasaka .
We trained:
313 Home Rehabilitation Officers during 2019 included in many courses on inclusive activities, Pecs Program - Portage Program - Parenting Skills, Behavior Modification and Qualifying them to train families in their different areas
snail farming program
Since the beginning of the snail cultivation program until December 31, 2019, 151 snail implants have been performed.
Due to increased partners supporting children with disabilities, 68 snail transplants were performed in 2019
Educational Center for Hearing Impairment
Educating and rehabilitating 109 children in the Educational Center for Hearing Impairment, through daily classes.
The opening of the evening shift, due to the increase in the number of children who need rehabilitation by the Educational Center for Hearing Impairment, and the reception of 64 new children within the total number at the center at the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year for children using hearing aids.
Implementation of the partial integration experiment in public schools (Lubba Al-Hilaliya School) with the participation of preparatory class children for a period of two weeks, followed by the graduation and integration of 9 children from the center.
Autism Center
During 2019:
28 children were rehabilitated and served in individual classes and sessions, including 5 new children.
Speech and Language Assessment Center
The center has completed more than 14,500 sessions for beneficiaries of various cases of speech and language disorders in Damascus and Lattakia centers.
We opened the evening shift at the Speech and Language Assessment Center in Damascus to raise the capacity of the center due to the increase in the number of cases of snail growers, as the number of people benefiting from rehabilitation services reached 904 cases in Damascus and Lattakia centers for the year 2019.
We qualified 49 cases, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health/Damascus Health Directorate, within the clefts and clefts program, working jointly with a team of doctors at the center.
We served 39 wounded patients through 860 speech and language assessment sessions in cooperation with Jareeh Al-Watan within the Syrian Trust for Development, in a number of Syrian governorates.
Psychokinetic service
Within a joint work plan with the work team and the child's family, we rehabilitated 71 children
Auditory Survey Center
During 2019, the Audiovisual Survey Center served more than 1,764 beneficiaries by diagnosing the condition or directing them to appropriate medical intervention.
Screening and Diagnostics Committee
We did:
1523 preliminary detection cases to go more accurately towards diagnosing the problem, if any.
72 cases of autism diagnosis/intelligence tests confirm or deny the presence of autism spectrum disorder.
Tests for 301 cases, including developmental tests and intelligence tests, by specialists in special education.
Coral Amal
Coral Amal was established with the participation of 24 children from the Educational Center for Hearing Impairment, after training that lasted about seven months, led by Professor Hossam El Din Primo.
