Established in 2007, the Syrian American Medical Society Foundation (SAMS) is a non-profit, non-political medical relief organization founded by a group of Syrian-American healthcare professionals in the United States, with a mission to deliver life-saving services and revitalize health systems during crisis. Since 2012 until now, SAMS is the largest healthcare provider in Syria, SAMS is currently supporting 36 Health Facility (12 Hospital, 13 Primary health care, 2Mobile Clinic, 3 COVID 19 isolation units, 2 Dialysis units, 2 MHPSS Center, 1 Rehabilitation center, 1 TB center and 1 Prosthesis center). In addition to Ambulance System, two midwifery/nursing schools, Autism center (Take My Hand – Istanbul/Turkey) and Youth center (Karam house – Reyhanli/Turkey).
SAMS is an active member in Health, Nutrition, Protection clusters, and GBV sub-cluster, in addition to technical working groups, including Community Health, Non-communicable diseases, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), COVID-19 task force. SAMS is a member of the SCHF advisory board, Humanitarian Liaison Group (HLG), NGO Forum, and the Syrian NGOs Alliance (SNA).
