A societal dialogue on the constitution in Erbil: Pluralism indicates a fair constitution

Berchav held the first dialogue session after it concluded its sessions three months ago in Erbil on the constitutional process, the challenges it faces, the criteria of a successful constitution that expresses population diversity, and Syria's multiplicity of social and national groups.

More than 33 actors attended, including lawyers, party representatives, civil society leaders, and activists in the feminist, human rights and civil fields, in addition to the strong participation of the two members of the Constitutional Committee, namely: Lawyer Fayeq Hawija and Dr. Samira Moubayed, who are from the civil society body in the Committee Constitutional.

The two university professors in Iraqi Kurdistan, who are Syrian residents, also attended.
The research paper that Berchav completed imposed itself at the forefront of the dialogue, and was praised, for the importance of this work.
The issue of solving the Kurdish issue and ensuring the rights of the Kurds took a great deal of discussion.
Most of the discussions centered on the importance of the separation of powers, the constitution in some of its clauses being strict , supra-constitutional principles, and the issue of freedoms.

The participants did not forget to meander to talk about Kurdish representation and the sons of north and east Syria in the constitutional committee.

Criticism was seen by more than one participant and the participation for the mechanism and the domination by the Astana group, while others saw the bet on the civil society bloc in the constitutionality and the roles that civil society plays to enhance the spirit of partnership and dialogue and create a balanced path in the approach to the content of the discussions and the negotiation process on constitutional principles with a focus on the role of The media, which is an indicator of the democratic issue.

therefore there is a call that appeared recently that the free media should have a role to spread the constitutional dialogue on the one hand, and that the place of this media be reinforced through constitutional provisions.
It worth to be noted that this was the first after three constitutional sessions in Erbil, and Berchav continues to hold its sessions in the distributed areas of north and east Syria.
