SAMS Medical Technical Institute in al-Atareb recently organized a discussion of second-year nursing students’ research papers.
The students researched and presented on topics including the effects of insulin resistance, the risks of indiscriminate antibiotics use, and psychological disorders linked to the loss of a loved one. Doctors and trainers from the institute and nearby health facilities attended the students’ presentations.
Professor Anas Salim, the academic advisor for the students’ research explained: “This research represents the culmination of the students’ efforts after two years of study. It is an opportunity for them to make their mark on the scientific community by connecting their studies and work experiences.”
Students expressed that this research was especially important given the limited availability of resources available in northwest Syria and the crucial health needs in the area. One student, Hasnaa al-Satouf explained: “We desperately need the students’ efforts in this field to lessen the negative impacts of our community’s problems and improve the quality of healthcare.”
SAMS is proud to support the next generation of Syrian healthcare professionals.
