November 25th marked both the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and the first day of the 30th annual 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign.
In observance of the 16 Days campaign, several SAMS facilities are organizing events under the title “Let’s Be Allies in the Empowerment of Women and Girls.”
After the event at the Qah Maternity Hospital, Mohammed al-Abdullah, leader of the MHPSS team said: “We implemented a number of activities during this opening day that aimed to introduce people to the campaign and its goals, as well as explaining how we manage our protection and safe referral services. We’ll be arranging a number of other events throughout the next sixteen days, many of which will tie in to our ongoing “Your Protection Is Our Responsibility” campaign, which involves education for our staff.”
This campaign is a global event that will continue until December 10th, during which the community will be able to share lots of positive and constructive ideas. SAMS considers 16 Days very important, and looks forward to the ongoing events.
