Berçav among the students: Human rights must be encouraged

Berçav held an intensive discussion session with a group of students from Kurdistan universities on the concept of human rights and the mechanisms of human rights work in Erbil today, Monday: 07/03/2022.

Twenty students attended from different faculties and university branches, and they contributed to a deep discussion about the concept of human rights and its sources.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was the first paper that was addressed and made observations and shed light on its thirty articles.

The most prominent observation is that the Universal Declaration achieves decent living conditions for the individual, but it does not solve the issues of nationalism, let alone political rights with a dimension of my identities.

The discussion soon moved to the search for the drafters of the Declaration, and the reason for calling the Declaration "global", not "international", after the historical context of the declaration's issuance, specifically the post-World War II conditions, and decades after the global depression were discussed.

The discussions centered on how to employ the thirty articles of the advertisement, which prompted the attendees with Berçav’s cadre to talk about civil campaigns and the importance of the strategic plan, tactics and means of the campaign, taking into account the selection of “smart goals”, issues related to “lobby” or “advocacy”, and choosing The right time to make demands.

And the identification of the circles of "friends" and "enemies" took a space of dialogue.

It should be noted that Berçav promised the male and female students to hold three more sessions in the coming months to complete the full perception of the culture of human rights and its generations.
