Awareness campaigns and treatment services to combat leishmaniasis

Leishmaniasis is a skin disease that arises as a result of the sting of a small insect called the sand fly, which stings a person without realizing it because it does not make a sound when it flies. The sand fly still poses a threat to the population in northwestern Syria due to the living conditions and the population density that the region suffers from, especially in the camps that lack infrastructure. The Independent Doctors Organization, in turn, provides treatment services to patients in several health centers in Idlib and rural Aleppo, in conjunction with awareness campaigns organized by community health teams to raise awareness about ways to prevent infection.
