The Syrian Women’s Network participates in the “Gender-Responsive Programming for Refugees” workshop

The “Syrian Women’s Network” participated in the workshop organized by UN Women under the title “Civil Society Capacity Development (Gender-Responsive Programming for Refugees) on the 20th and 21st of December of this year, in Gaziantep, southern Turkey. The same course will be held in Istanbul on December 23 and 24.
Representatives from many civil society organizations participated in this workshop, including IOM, Bunyan, rosemary, Basma, Zaytouna, Malatya Sham, IFRC, and Al-Amal Association for Development and Health Services. The "Syrian Women's Network" was represented by the association's president, Nadera Osmanoglu, and the activities coordinator, Ahlam Nazzal. The network will be represented in Istanbul by Ms. May Elaraby.
On the first day, there was talk about gender mainstreaming and budgeting. The lecture included an extensive explanation of concepts and principles on the same topic, the role of civil society organizations, and the impact of issues on state budgets, such as the costly impact of violence against women and child marriage on state budgets.
On the second day, the characteristics of the leader, his role in change, and the steps taken by the leader to bring about change were discussed. The issues of advocacy and gaining support, the desired goals, and what are the strategies for gaining support on gender issues were also discussed.
At the end of the workshop, the attendees were divided into groups and asked to simulate the issue of the high rate of child marriage in Jordan in light of the Corona pandemic, according to the information included in the workshop on the topic of advocacy.
